The Hand and Wrist Institute
The Hand and Wrist Institute is considered one of the best practices in the country for treating disorders, deformities and injuries of the upper extremities, wrists and hands. With this practice focusing only on diagnosing and treating these types of conditions, we offer the best solutions for patients to restore the use of their upper extremities, wrist or hand. Lead by the renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. John T. Knight and using the latest technology and research, most patients find that their condition can be treated successfully from conservative treatments. Others, who may require surgery, are treated with minimally invasive procedures that offer faster recoveries and less pain. The Hand and Wrist Institute uses advanced techniques such as stitchless endoscopic carpal tunnel release and advanced arthroscopic procedures, which can all be performed at the Hand and Wrist Institute Surgical Outpatient Center.

Common Conditions Dr. Knight Treats
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Dr. Knight is highly experienced in treating carpal tunnel syndrome. He can quickly diagnosis this condition as well as identify if the condition is chronic or acute and offer the most effective treatment based on his findings. A conservative approach may include splinting and resting the wrist as well as medications. If surgery is needed, Dr. Knight is highly experienced in both open and endoscopic procedures, which provide immediate pain relief.
- Trigger Finger – Depending on the severity of the case, Dr. Knight can provide highly effective treatments to correct this condition. Conservative treatments are often successful for treating milder cases, which may include soaking in warm water, massage, medications, rest and splinting. For more serious cases, simple surgery can correct this problem.
- Ganglion Cyst – Ganglion cysts are very common. Dr. Knight has treated thousands of these cysts and will most often begin treatment using conservative measures such as immobilization of the wrist and perhaps aspiration of the cyst fluid. If the cyst returns, Dr. Knight may recommend surgical treatment that consists of excising the cyst.
- Mommy Thumb – Dr. Knight has been treating mommy thumb for over 20 years and has cured most cases using conservative methods. When conservative treatments fail to provide relief, Dr. Knight can perform a minimally invasive surgical procedure that offers fast recovery, allowing the patient to return to their normal activities quickly.
Dr. Knight offers his experience and skills to patients so they can receive the highest quality care in the least invasive manner.
